Verena Pausder

Founder and digital education expert

Verena Pausder is one of the most well-known faces of the start-up scene in Germany. Dynamic, curious, smart, strong in implementation - she gives everything for the future of education. For example, during the Corona crisis, she launched homeschooling-corona.com and initiated the country's largest education hackathon #wirfürschule. For this, she was honoured by the Handelsblatt and BCG as a 2020 Mastermind. She is an expert in digital education, founder of Fox & Sheep and the HABA Digital Workshops. In 2016, she was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum. In her opinion, giving children equal access to digital education is one of the core prerequisites for the future viability of a country.

Strength through loss of control

The COVID-19 pandemic has taught us valuable lessons that will shape how we move forward, says digital education expert Verena Pausder, but now the time has come for us to learn how to take action without being forced to by crisis. While our schools often cling to strict curricula instead of equipping children with the skills necessary to shape the future. We need to have the courage to make decisions, even if they bring risks with them. Loss of control in terms of leadership is made up of self-determination, constant development and open, empathic communication. Self-determination is exemplified in home-office, which has become common during the pandemic, and many other unnecessary structures remain to be eliminated. Constant personal development has become possible, with individual learning paths for each individual and a greater focus on human needs helping improve performance. Lastly, open and empathic communication also arises as a result of the pandemic, showing that we are all human and should be able to show it.
